Ebola : The Press Group Les Afriques calls for the mobilization of African media
Published on 20/10/2014 à 10:32
“For several weeks, I have been dismayed to note the evolution of the Ebola epidemic, which the United States has just been described as a major event as worrisome as AIDS at the time of its emergence. If we are not careful, this pandemic which has killed 3,000 across all continents since January, could easily slow, or even dramatically terminate the decades of economic and social recovery efforts across Africa.
No African can sit back with their arms crossed! To accede to observers who say that we overestimate or over-publicize disease would be suicide and irresponsible to our constituents. Thus, the ensemble of editorial teams of Les Afriques agree to appeal to our colleagues, particularly in Africa, to launch the campaign “Ebola, danger... We must be vigilant".
We will henceforth publish a weekly banner with this slogan. This tag will also be visible on the website www.lesafriques.com until Africa and the world puts an end to this plague. We ask of you to reprint this message across available platforms (print, web, radio, TV, social networks...)."
